Interaction's '09 - Day 3

Well it's over for me and it was a great finish.

Went to a session on client deployment and got the talk to them about some issues we are having and got some great info.

The final session by Don Brown was great and I love seeing where they are headed.

Here are a couple of random points.
1. All the I3 people I talked too knew about our Vendor, Sage Innovations in St Louis, this makes me feel like we got a winner on our hands. I heard some horror stories this week about other vendors that had no clue.

2. Talking to the I3 employees was great. It's amazing to have this kind of contact with so many people from i3.

3. Going live on Tuesday may not have been the best idea. Our vendor expressed some frustrations with getting responses from support this week. My guess is most of them were here and the ones that were not got overwhelmed.

4. I think I might have an idea on how to get the i3 client to work in lotus notes 8 without much work. Need to get some things running and try it out.

5. Excited for the Sametime integration that is coming. Can't come soon enough for me.

Going back to work tomorrow should be fun and hectic, I already have 3 meetings lined up!

Interaction's '09 - Day 2

Another great day here at Interaction's '09.

Went to a bunch of great session's today including one tools for the mobile user. I got a lot of great ideas for things we can try.

Had a great lunch and talked to a developer working on CIC 4.0 and his thoughts on Lotus Notes integration into the .net client.

The awards dinner at Lucas Oil Stadium was very impressive and I very much enjoyed looking at all the race cars they have on display at the stadium. I'd like to bring the kids back and take a tour of the stadium.

Tomorrow it's over and I am heading home to see the family.

Interaction's '09 - Day 1

I am attending the Interactive Intelligence Interactions '09 conference this week.

In a word, WOW. This has been great so far. I3 is not afraid to spend money on a conference. There is a ton of technology here, LCD's, multiple projectors per room, etc...

I think every employee from I3 is here.

Yesterday I got to meet a lot of people from I3, project managers, sales people, 3rd app people, the CFO, training instructors, etc... It's been great to pick their brains on a few things.

I went to several seminars but one of them stood out for me.

I3 is working with IBM to integrate Sametime with the I3 client. This is very interesting and would be great for us since we use Lotus Notes and Sametime.

They hinted that in version 2 or 3 that they might, possibly build a mini client for the eclipse platform. Which means you could have a mini I3 client in your lotus notes sidebar, freaking awesome. But probably not coming for years.

However, their Lotus Notes user base is obviously very small. There was only about 10 people in the room and 5 of them were from 1 company and were looking to switch to Lotus Notes.

This is good and bad. The good part is that they actually support Lotus Notes and are fairly current with Domino support. The Bad is that I have a feeling Lotus support takes a back seat to exchange support.
